When do visits begin and how long is each visit?
Visits can start any time after you come home with your newborn. Schedule with your doula for a start date. Each visit is 1 hour long between the hours of 6am-6pm Monday-Friday.
Do I need to pay anything?
Medicaid insurance covers all doula costs. Depending on your insurance this service may be free or a low fee. Contact us today find out.
How many visits can I have with Medicaid?
Medicaid currently allows 18 visits postpartum without physician approval. If you want more visits we can work with your physician to approve more.
Will my doula give me medical advice for my concerns?
Doula’s do not provide medical advice. If you have concerns, they can give you referrals to specialist. They may point out things they notice.
Can doula’s offer mental health support?
Yes, postpartum doulas are trained to recognize signs of postpartum depression, anxiety, and other emotional challenges. While they are not therapists, they can offer support and refer you to appropriate mental health professionals if needed.
Do I need a postpartum doula if I have family support?
While family and friends can provide valuable help, postpartum doulas are trained professionals who offer specialized support and expertise. They can provide unbiased support, assist with newborn care, and offer guidance that might complement the help from family.
Do you offer overnight support?
No, currently all shifts are scheduled between 6am-6pm.
